7. Create Data Element Groups

Objectives:

  • Learn how to create Data Element Groups in DHIS2. 

Assignment overview:

Similar or related Data Elements can be classified into a Data Element Group. Groups are used to speed up report creation. Data Element Groups are disconnected from data values, so editing a Group does not affect the underlying data. Importantly, only Data Elements within a Data Element Group can be selected within the GIS mapping app.

Where to work:

You will be working directly in DHIS2 for this assignment.



Instructions:

Step 1. Go to the 'Maintenance' app

 

Step 2. Scroll down to 'Data Element Group' and click the '+'

Step 3. You will see this screen:

Step 4. Fill out:

  • Name

  • Short name (identical to Name) *Note: Shortname has a 50 character limit

  • Double-click the Data Elements you want to add to the Group.

 

Step 5. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to save your new Data Element Group.

 

Note: If you want to create more Data Element Groups in DHIS2.

  • Repeat steps, above.

 

Notes:

  • Anything created in the Dev.logicaloutcomes instance should include your initials in the name - e.g. "[name]_NKS".
