8. Create a Data Set
- Learn how to create Data Sets in DHIS2.
In this assignment, you will create a data entry form, or Data Set, for the Data Element we created in the previous assignment. This is where the "when", or the frequency of data collection will be set. Data Sets are disconnected from the content of Data Elements, and therefore can be changed without affecting the underlying raw data.
Assignment walkthrough video - Create a Dataset
You will be working directly in DHIS2 for this assignment.
Step 1. Go to the 'Maintenance' app
Step 2. Scroll down to 'Data Set' and click the '+'
Step 3.
Fill out;
Mandatory Fields | Text to enter |

Short name *Note: Short name has a 50 character limit | Monthly School Visit |
Select Frequency from the following options | Monthly |
Step 4. Select 'Monthly - Schools using an improved water source' from the 'Available data elements' text box. Double-click, or select and click the '>' button, to make a Data Element appear in the text box on the right, like this:
Step 5. From the OrgUnit list further down the page, select the OrgUnits that will be allowed to enter data into this form. For now select all Canadian Provinces.
Step 6. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the screen to save your new Data Set.
***IMPORTANT***
- You must add the newly created Data Set to the list of Selected Data Sets in the User Role(s) that will be entering data. see walkthrough video for more details
Note: If you want to create more Data Sets in DHIS2, repeat steps 2-6, above.
Notes:
- Anything created in the Dev.logicaloutcomes instance should include your initials in the name - e.g. "[name]_NKS".
