Why Cybersecurity?
The mission of V-Research is to provide the industry with the proper tools to support the secure engineering process of cyber-physical systems, favoring the security-by-design approach (as mandated by many standards in most, if not all, the fields of CPS engineering, such as the DO-326A, IEC 62443, SAE J3061 and many others).
Cybersecurity is still a relatively new research field and lacks of foundational understanding to make current products suitable for the secure engineering of secure systems. We now live in a world where (pen)testing is the main weapon against cybersecurity attacks. But, if there is no cybersecurity theory, what are we testing? Well, nobody knows... a priori... and this is creating an infinite loop of coding and patching.
But... Pragmatically?
Our first open-access white paper and open-source prototype for the cybersecurity risk assessment of systems are available here. Our prototypes are not "just" innovating something which exists, we create the materials for what will be. Our prototypes are based on other prototypes, on unstable grounds. But they solve complex theoretical and engineering challenges such as calculating the number of security weaknesses in the design of a cyber-physical system. Our code isn't clean, you cannot design new ideas. But we look forward to maturate our prototypes with the industry and for the industry.

"There is no royal road to science", they said... but we are trying to pave the way for those who want to follow us (and everyone else). There's a gentle introduction to our idea on knowledgezero.com. It is the story a non-practical man living a world of practicality. It is the fight against living the life of "business oriented research" in favor of the life of an explorer. Exploring the unknown doesn't follow pre-determined schemes; it wouldn't be unknown otherwise! Research is free and open, no matter if we accept it or not.
