ClosedAI

This is a project regarding OpenAI, which should be referred to as ClosedAI, as their software is no longer open source, it is closed source. Please instead use free, libre, and open source Artificial Intelligence software, and boycott ClosedAI.

I have been against the name of OpenAI all the way back to 2023, Saturday, June 3rd when I wrote this:

OpenAI has a misleading name now. Since the release of GPT-4, all current software by OpenAI is no longer open, it is closed (closed source) thus I feel OpenAI should rename to ClosedAI, until they can make everything open source again (if they ever do)

Having closed source Artificial Intelligence is extremely dangerous and unethical, and is a double standard when they complain about the dangers of Artificial Intelligence, since hiding what you are doing is only making the problem worse.

I originally created my AI2001 project partly due to there being a major lack of open source "Artificial Intelligence" software at the time (I also wanted to have my own AI project) My stance on what "Artificial Intelligence" is, and its impact has changed significantly since starting this project, but as of 2025, February 3rd, I have not found the time to reflect on this on the home AI2001 repository.

It's closed

Closed source software is untrustworthy, and its actions cannot be verified effectively. A closed source Artificial Intelligence is especially dangerous. We need open source Artificial Intelligence, not closed source.

Yes, there are repositories on GitHub with source code, but this does not include the actual source code of what is used by ClosedAI, especially since the release of GPT-4, which was made closed source upon release. These are merely community projects, similar to how companies like Facebook have lots of open source repositories, but the core of Facebook is still closed source and hidden.

Dehumanization

Comments from the leadership of ClosedAI have made the same mistakes that the general public in Germany made prior to the Nazi takeover, except, they are dehumanizing Muslims instead of Jews. Dehumanization is not okay. ClosedAI was hacked (DDoS'd) by Anonymous Sudan (a Russian hacking group) over this issue in 2024, knocking out service for a while.

Military usage

ClosedAI has special deals with the government of Israel, where their software is used to indiscriminately choose places to bomb in Palestine, mostly including houses, schools, hospitals, and places of worship. This is a war crime.

ClosedAI originally had a no military use clause in their terms of service, but they quietly modified it, then removed it.

AI takeover

If you are worried about AI taking over and killing humanity, you should avoid ClosedAI, due to their history of dehumanizing people, and supporting militaries directly. Once Artificial Intelligence/Artificial General Intelligence is actually reached, CLosedAI will likely try to create something like SkyNet. ClosedAI is saying things not very far from "kill all humans"
