Refresh for current location?

I'm attempting to use "Current Location" to open my garage door when I pull into my neighborhood. It seems this doesn't refresh quickly enough to work, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone gotten anything like this to work?

The refresh action does update the location and in my experience is the car when shut off will update its status within a couple of minutes if it has reception that updates the location.

That being said, I don't think this will work well for you. Keep in mind that this service is extremely slow. You sent a request to Toyotas servers, Toyotas tells the car it needs to update the status, I think the car has a polling interval in this case where it checks if there are any requests, and then sends whatever the response is. You can see this with any other app action like remote start, it can take 30 seconds - 1 minute.

My suggestion for this case would be to get something that detects a car is in front of the garage as well as maybe a detection for when your phone is in range to authorize opening it. Otherwise you will wait forever. I tried something similar unlocking my door after I park at home, but it takes like 4 minutes or so and generally I get to the door before the location updates.

One use I found for this so far I use it to automate remote start for when I leave work checking weather and such and generally my car sits there for hours so the location does update.
