Vite not ignoring link tag when building

I want Vite to ignore certain prefetch links in my HTML file, so I added the vite-ignore attribute to their link tags. On the Vite guide it says ...

To opt-out of HTML processing on certain elements, you can add the vite-ignore attribute on the element, which can be useful when referencing external assets or CDN.

Below is the link tag that Vite is still transforming. Am I doing something wrong?
