fez failure in presence of .precomp

If the local directory containing a distribution contains a .precomp/ directory, all of its contents are packed into the fez zip.
After fez upload
Locally, I get a list of the files, then a 'success' message, but then I get an email failure notification with

Error reading META from your last upload 

If I then delete the .precomp/ directory, and repeat fez upload, I get the same local response (minus a listing of the precomp contents), and later fez list shows the distribution has been uploaded.

Recommendation: check for .precomp files and provide info to delete them. Or something similar
