The Nothing initial owner/user known as Brad_X ,in stacks community, sent around 10 trillion original $MNO into the Nothing faucet address along with the 90%-distribution roadmap of the token among the crypto community.

...Nothing originated out of nothing with no prior will and supposed to get distributed as much as possible among various group of people in crypto space. Because all people deserve to have some Nothing in their pocket!
Regarding the Nothingtoken website, there are around 17,7 trillion $WMNO left to be distributed as the faucet to interested users...However, there still exist several other trillion WMNO out of faucet website in the original accounts. By the vote of Nothing community majority, 90% of all coins must be distributed/airdropped among Stacks users and other passionate crypto members.

Upgrade done by the community developers Hozz, Werner and Asteria to Wrapped-Nothing version 8 and the newest feature of fungible token. The faucet has also handed out v5, v6 and unwrapped MNO later you'll be able to revert (unwrap) to MNO and convert to Wrapped Nothing v8 if you have some of the other versions.
Version 8 will be needed if you need to add a memo to a transfer. That should be the last wrapper for a long time as now it is finally in line with the SIP010 standard of the Stacks chain (well as soon as that is activated anyway!). And it will be necessary if a token needs to be SIP-010 compliant. In the future there may be more wrappers for MNO but we'll always use $MNO as the original Nothing.
It is discovered a new group has copied/stolen the idea of Nothing token with exactly the same concept and name and they intend to hold an ICO even to raise money! This is an scam so be careful about any similar tokens with name of Nothing ... Unfortunately, thieves, copy-makers and impersonators are everywhere!!.. But $MNO (the real original Nothing) doesn't care about anything/anyone and have never done any ICO, or token-sale event and will never do that in future. $MNO, Nothing token, will be distributed among users by free and fair airdrops and faucets in exchange for nothing!
