Open FPGA Debug

Open FPGA Debug (OFD) is a debug tool, which provides an effective method to observe signal conditions inside FPGA. Unlike proprietary analogues (SignalTap/ILA), OFD is a free open-source IP-core and can be used with FPGA of any vendor.

OFD advantages:

  • high-speed data acquisition
  • flexible architecture -- debug can be implemented using many different interfaces (UART/Ethernet/etc.)
  • vendor independence -- design can be ported on a new FPGA with a debug core without additional tuning
