Since we live in a new reality with stricter RBAC permissions for nodes since Kubernetes 1.32 - the issue which prevents talos discovery-service.

Did I understand correctly that I'm not allowed to deploy self-hosted discovery-service in my air-gapped production environment?

Correct. The discovery-service software license is the same as Omni (Business Source License) and if you're using it as part of a production environment requires a contract with Sidero Labs. You can contact Sidero to discuss a contract at sales@siderolabs.com

It can be deployed to non-production environments, but is not for production use without a contract.
