Why can I assign several creators for an NFT?

According to the data model, creators is an array.

If I interpret the contract code correctly, if the initial address that requested the tokenId does not match the first creator's account, it fails

Yeah, and it needs valid signatures for all creators. My question was more regarding how the backend handles a lazy mint with several creators. The NFT can't have 2 owners.

Back to this question. Gui and I are trying to implement the Lazy Minting for the first tier of the NFPs. However, in order to assure we control the minting we need to be one of the creators. This is causing a challenge which is: we can pass 2 creators, the user and us, ask for the 2 signatures and do the lazy minting. However how does Rarible handle the effective owner of the lazy minting (before it is minted onchain). Is the adress in position [0] or both?
