Edit Content in Browser

Subhas Dandapani edited this page Jun 17, 2014 · 1 revision

We use GitBook to generate the book. Whenever you make any edit, the book is automatically deployed to the website. It is all in plain markdown, so you don't need to have any coding knowledge or software to create or deploy the book. In fact you can edit the book straight from the browser.

Make sure you have Collaborator access to the repository. Otherwise, it will ask you to fork and raise a pull request, which can be a little unfriendly. Raise an issue or ping the mods. Once you have access, just go to rapidftr.github.io/guide as usual, open the page that you want to edit, and click the Edit and Contribute link on the left. You will be immediately taken to a page where you can directly edit the contents. Make the changes and click commit, and it will be automatically deployed to the website within a few minutes!

If you're comfortable with the above, you can now go to the repository, browse the various folders and edit any page. The repository itself is shockingly readable, so things will be obvious. Don't worry, all the history is there, so even if you make a mistake, its trivial to undo.
