So I tried myself to convert a profile 8 movie to 5. Dolby Vision is correctly engaged on TV, although Direct Stream must be enabled: if it's disabled and you try to force direct play Plex won't play the file with a "colour space not supported" error (and it makes sense). Now with direct stream as said it seems to work correctly (colours seem accurate), however I don't think it's true Dolby Vision. Playing it in HDR mode looks practically the same to me, so I'm unsure any dynamic metadata is actually used. It could be just HDR contained into Dolby Vision (so having the TV saying Dolby Vision but actually playing plain HDR) |

Hi, recently I tried some dovi movies and test videos to see if plex on xbox series can play it. I tried profile 7 and profile 8, but these default to render in HDR. However when using 4K dovi files from 4kmedia.org, these play in dolby vision. With mediainfo I see these are profile 5, and effectively Plex on xbox should be able to play profile 5 like the streaming apps. But because you can't convert profile 7 to profile 5, I was wondering if converting it to fake profile 5 like for apple devices would work. Has anyone tried it?
edit: Ah forgive me for posting it into issues, old habits ahah
