@peterzhuamazon while this may bring some additional attention to Issues, there are some concerns.

  • do we know how many issues are opened on a daily/weekly/monthly basis? This idea has a potential to be very noisy.
  • we do not have a 1:1 repo to slack channel setup, and with the amount of repos, no plans to do that. This idea would require a mapping of repo(s) to existing channels in groups that make sense.

Hi @krisfreedain,

Yes, those are some valid points and that is why this idea is not currently implemented.
The initial thoughts is indeed trying to 1:1 match so engineers can get alerted for these issues.

The follow-up might be alerting older issue > X months instead or close the issues automatically due to inactivity as a start, and then slowly finalize the idea to something that is much more actionable.
