Hi @andrross could you list out the contributions from @bugmakerrrrrr?

And would you list out the maintainers that gives +1 in the nomination process?

Thanks.

@peterzhuamazon We don't publish the email threads for the nomination process, lets not start opening up those details as they are sensitive conversations. If there is issues with maintainers not following the project guidance, lets let them self-govern and bring it up with the foundation.

If you'd like to change the maintainer nomination and approval process, would you mind creating a PR on this repo?

Hi, as stated above we are not trying to publish the email threads.

As part of the communications with LF on the request process.

We want to ensure that the voting process is well-established, transparent, and documented, as we need to work with LF on ticket for inviting new nominees to the org.

If there is any misunderstanding I apologize for the wording.

We are trying to improve the process so that OpenSearch Software Foundation is truly open and public in working with the communities on the matters.

Thanks.

Thanks, this sounds pretty important as maybe there have been misses in the past. Could we get these requirements documented on the .github project, the current description doesn't include any oversight by LF.

The PR [1] has 5 approvals from OpenSearch maintainers, and here is a query [2] that shows 30 contributions by the nominated maintainer. Is that enough to move forward?

A ticket has been created with LF here:

Thanks.

I agree with @peternied's concerns here. The discussions on the nomination threads should remain private to the maintainers. I also don't want to establish a precedent of sharing which maintainers voted +1 as the decision to vote or abstain from voting should remain private.

The policy does say the content of the nomination should be included in the PR to add the new maintainer. I initially failed to include that but I have updated the PR, just so there's no doubt about all of bugmakerrrrrr's awesome contributions :)
