Using the xaringan package to create HTML slides through remark.js with RMarkdown seems to pose a problem for including references. In particular, the standard approach of using pandoc for citations obviously fails; however, alternatives --- like using the RefManageR package --- don't seem to allow the creation of a bibliography without explicitly including references throughout the text of slides.
