# IMU

> The lidar is going to give you so much more accuracy than imu or odometry you can likely buy any imu you want (even a 10 dollar one) and have reasonable success. I've found that the slam algorithms mostly need imu/odometry to simply say "the robot is moving" or "the robot is stationary" and all your positional accuracy comes from the lidar and slam algorithm
