esphome RAW format

esphome has a function transmit_raw defined at https://esphome.io/components/remote_transmitter.html

I believe this is also the format for Flipper, but I don't own one so can't comment.

Is there existing tools that will let one take a capture (cu8, sr, etc) and convert that into this format? It's just high/low pulses and duration.

It would make importing it into my hardware much more streamlined then doing it manually.

Pulse data viewer can already parse that data. Open https://triq.org/pdv/ then click the plus and choose Raw pulse data, then paste to the pulse data box. Paste e.g.

To produce pulse data use the raw ook output in rtl_433, e.g. rtl_433 -w OOK:- file.cu8 but you still need to convert every second value of the pairs to negative.

E.g. if you see

;ook x pulses
…
232 80
440 80

Change it to
[232 -80 440 -80]

I think it should be easy to script that, not much value in adding this to rtl_433 natively. If you have a python example of this scripting PR it to the examples folder.

Nice! I could write that and submit a PR. Any thoughts on how to know if that first pulse is a HIGH or a LOW? Otherwise I guess the user would still need to view the data and then have a flag to indicate what our starting pulse is from that output and we just alternate each 2nd line.

In every ook data tuple the first value is always a pulse (or mark in FSK) and every second value is always a gap (or space in FSK).
It is valid to have pulses or gaps of 0 length, you could remove those, but I guess they are also valid in the esphome format.

Sorry my question wasn't clear.

Is there a situation in which OOK is inverted?

Is there a situation where the pulse is [-336 312] and not [336 -312]?
