had some issues using Safely Remove Hardware tool in win 10. kept telling me USB was still in use. then would crash my system. had a hard time figuring out what was wrong then had a hunch it might be ext2fsd. i uninstalled it and now Safely Remove Hardware is working normally again.

In order to shut Windows down properly --- set ALL ext2 drives to READ ONLY -- safely remove ALL hardware -- with ext2 manager remove dead drive letters, then shutdown happens properly. This has been working for me every time.
