+Fundamentally pyembroidery stores the positions in global positionings where the +y direction is down and -y is up (when viewed horizontally) with +x right and -x left. This is consistent with most modern coordinate systems within graphics but it is different than how this is stored within embroidery formats. pyembroidery for consistency sake reads the by flipping the y direction, and writes by flipping the y direction. This is to allow seemless interfacing between the two. This flips occur at the level of the format reader and writer, and is not subject to the encoding.
