Unlike all the other options that actually respects both the language and the search query, the 0wikipedia.org option make my request jump through (in the order):

  1. https://{lang}.wikipedia.org/wiki/{query}
  2. https://{lang}.0wikipedia.org/wiki/{query}
  3. http://www.wikizero.net/wiki/en.m/{query}
  4. http://www.wikizero.biz/wiki/en/wikipedia
  5. http://www.wikizero.biz/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly9lbi53aWtpcGVkaWEub3JnL3dpa2kvV2lraXBlZGlh

I think this against the scope of the extension, and it also seem a little confusing/shady as www.wikizero.biz !== www.wikizero.com.

If I'm missing something and/or removing it is not an option, I'll suggest to move it away from being the default, in favor of www.wikizero.com

I think the reason why it redirects so much is that the final domain it redirects to is constantly changing. As the usage of a domain increases, the possibility that it will be blocked by the government also increases, so that's probably why it looks a bit shady. This is sort of like the cases of The Pirate Bay or CouchTuner, whose domains also change constantly because they keep getting blocked and/or shut down.

That said, I understand your concern. The domain that we promise and the actual domain the extension redirects to are entirely different, and also the final url is completely distorted. I will change the order of the domains in an upcoming release and put either wikipedi0.org or wikiwand.com on the top.

Yes, this is definetely understandable.

My real problem (that I missed to properly express) is from a usability point of view.

If I search something on google and click on a link to wikipedia as a result, my final page will be http://www.wikizero.biz/index.php?q=aHR0cHM6Ly9lbi53aWtpcGVkaWEub3JnL3dpa2kvV2lraXBlZGlh no matter what, and I have to remember or write down the query and then search it again on this site. But in this case, just bookmarking the web site and opening it at need will do the job, no real need for the extension.

From various tests the query get lost in the jump from wikizero.net to wikizero.biz, while wikizero.biz alone properly works. So my suggestion was to replace 0wikipedia.org with wikizero.biz (which is the final destination anyways). This seems in line with your intentions, too.

The final list that I propose would then be:

  1. wikizero.com
  2. wikipedi0.org
  3. wikiwand.com
  4. wikizero.biz

From what I understand, 0wikipedia.org is an umbrella domain. Even if the final redirected domain (in this case wikizero.biz) shuts down or gets blocked, 0wikipedia.org will always redirect to a domain that works. If I change 0wikipedia.org to wikizero.biz, there is no guarantee that wikizero.biz will stay up and redirect to another domain if something were to happen to it. 0wikipedia has been working for years now and it's the one Turkish people are most familiar with. That's why I'm a bit hesitant to remove it completely and replace it with wikizero.biz.

I also don't want to have a default domain where the design is dramatically different than Wikipedia's original design. That's why I don't want to put wikizero.com or wikiwand.com at the top. If that was not a concern of mine, then the obvious choice would be wikiwand.com since that one is the most trustworthy and well established mirror of them all.

I see. Didn't know that!
Well, feel free to close this issue at will.

Good luck with everything!

Thank you too @Jackymancs4 for all of your contribution!

I'll close the issue when I rearrange the domains in the next release.
