The Access the Data design team uses Figma as its primary tool.
- When editing components (buttons, header, footer, etc.), please change them in the components tab only.
- There isn't a robust way to find where a component is used, but the Instance Finder plugin has been recommended by many in the Figma community.
- When prototyping new pages remember to use components from the components tab.
- Place all work into the specific colored boxes labeled current.
To support our best practices, it is essential to have a basic understanding of Figma components and how to use its functionality to minimize redundant effort and keep our designs current.
This page is good place to get familiar with the concept of components, specifically
- What are Figma components?
- What is a Figma components library?
- Why do designers use components?
- Advantages of using components
- How to add components in Figma
Additionally, Figma themselves have a Guide to Components in Figma that includes video tutorials to accompany the written articles.
This is a working document, please compile any questions and suggestions and bring it up during our meetings. Thank you!
