I hate this check. Our checks should not be based on how font editors or how some individuals want us to build fonts. I don't care whether the Aacute is assembled from A+acute or A+acutecomb. I just want to know, is the damn thing an Aacute. Very tempted to move this to a WARN. Imo this is one of those heuristic checks like recommended contour count. It should be a recommendation, not a requirement. |
So Felipe and I have been looking at check overrides in the configuration file. This is a useful check for designers to take notice of when they're putting their fonts together, as it enforces good practice. But once we've got a binary file, as you say, who cares. It should really be a source-level check, TBH. But anyway, we should use a google/fonts-wide fontbakery config file to demote this to a WARN. |
