"fi" lig does look bad since it has been crammed into a single letter.

We might use gftools-remap-layout to drop the ligature feature support.

We'll detach from the current afdko build system and migrate gf builder.

The migration required extra work to fix the sources. Roman is ready. Italic to be done. Development followed in this branch.
