SmartyPants does not prettify post summary #4

This plugin does not prettify post summaries.

This causes problems for me, because I compare page.content and page.summary to decide whether show a 'Read more' link.

page.content:

<p>You&#8217;ve been here before.</p>

page.summary:

<p>You’ve been here before.</p>

I can resolve this issue by disabling the SmartyPants plugin, but this is not ideal.
