It would be great to have an option to attach a text-to-speech voice (to choose amongst the already installed voices) with configured languages. That way one would have a single, global language switch for both text-to-speech and speech-to-text.

Refinements include:

  • When associating a voice for French, put french voices first
  • List French voices that aren't installed, only greyed out ; if the user try to select one, instruct on how to install it and/or launch the Speech preference pane
  • Also be able to associate the speech delivery ; since one may be more fluent in some languages than others

It's on my list, but it can take a while until I get to it. I'm currently moving (while working full time), so there's barely any time to anything else besides that.
