Prayer

  • Missions/World

      1) Pray for Siu-Yuk and the Children of Promise career training center: Siu-Yuk helps to lead the Children of Promise ministry in East Asia, that helps people with physical and mental disabilities. This organization recently received funding from the local government to start a second career training center in the city where they are located. Pray that God will help Siu-Yuk and her coworkers to get this second center off to a good start, and would use it to open up natural opportunities to share the gospel.

      2) Pray for Lu Tsun-En as he prepares to speak online to FICCC, works on dissertation: Tsun-En, who works full-time with Ambassadors for Christ and is supported by FICCC, will be sharing messages on Friday, September 11 and Sunday, September 13. Let’s pray for God to bless his preparation and use him to bring the Lord’s Word to our congregation. Let’s also ask God to bless his current efforts to finish his Ph.D. dissertation in theology and use this process to make him a more effective minister of God’s Word.

      3) Pray for the Lord to use FICCC to reach Chinese living in Ithaca: There are a significant number of Chinese living in Ithaca who are not Christians, some of whom are open to the gospel, especially given the challenges created by the current pandemic. Pray that God would work in the hearts of these people that might be drawn to learn more about the gospel. Pray as well that members of FICCC would be sensitive to the Spirit’s leading and have opportunities to invite them to join a fellowship meetings or Sunday worship.

  • Church

      1. Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-- to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” (Jude 20-25).

      2. Board Meeting on Sept 12: The church board will meet on September 12 to make the decision on reopening. Pray God be with them and guide them to take all available information and make wisest decision. Pray that our church can effectively utilizes the church resources to provide opportunity for church ministries while keeping people physically as safe as possible.

      3. Mountain Stream Team: The team plans to train college students in evangelism. Around 10 students have expressed interest. Pray that the students will commit, that the team will train them well, that they will be able to set up times to meet with non-Christians and that non- Christians will accept Christ and become committed disciples. Pray that the team will be able to meet up with students in spite of the COVID 19 restrictions to campus. The team will lead the entire English worship service on September 20. This will help our English congregation to get to know them. Pray that the team will be guided by the Holy Spirit in their preparation. Pray specifically for the eight team members.

      4. Youth Fellowship: Pray for youth as they will start school soon. Some of them will take classes online and some in person. Linnea Epp will start taking classes in Twin Tiers Christian Academy. Pray that they will adjust well to new circumstances, will study hard for God's glory, will not give into the temptation to cheat, and be committed to the spiritual disciplines of prayer, Scripture reading and involvement in the Christian community. Pray for our youth leaders they will give godly counsel and leadership to our youth.

      5. English Congregation’s One-on-one Discipleship: Besides the 8 members of the Mountain Stream Team, there are around 10 FICCC local residents and grad students who plan to do one-on-one discipleship this spring semester. Pray for wisdom for Pastor Paul as he pairs them up. Pray that the disciple makers will love the disciples and strategically help them grow spiritually.

      6. Church reopening: On July 18 our church board members decided to postpone until September 12 the decision to reopen the church. This decision was based on wanting to wait to find out whether the arrival of Cornell students will result in an increase in positive cases of COVID19. Pray that our board members will be both wise and bold in following God's guidance for the church reopening. Pray that there will be no increase in positive cases so that our church can reopen soon.

      7. New Students: Due to Cornell University and Ithaca College COVID19 restrictions, it will be harder to reach out to new students. Pray for creativity and wisdom in strategizing how to do this. Pray that students will respond well to our outreach. Pray that other students would take the initiative to seek out our church.

  • Individuals

      1. University Students’ Beginning of Class: As a new semester will begin this week, let us pray for all church members who are university students at local schools. Pray that God will help them make the priorities right, manage their time well, and then grow in every aspect of life.

      2. Singles: Let us pray for God’s guidance upon many single students in the area of relationship. Pray that Christians will honor God by firmly holding to biblical principles. Let us also pray that many seekers will entrust their future to God by faith, become members of God’s family, and build Christ-centered families with godly spouses that God provide for them.

      3. Seekers: Many seekers have visited our church and some have been coming multiple times. Let us pray for God’s work in their hearts. And let us ask God to give each one of us (Christians) the clear burden to pray for (at least) one specific individual seeker on a daily basis (at least) in these two months—September and October.
