In your handlers in general, modularisation will make it much clearer what's going on and you can test things in an isolated way.

For example you extract username and password from your endpoint and you could modularise it

You could create an endpoint parser in your helper and import it. Then you can call it in your get user data handler

I didn't test the above code btw but should work!
