Steps to reproduce

I am using Element Desktop. I am in 125-150 rooms or spaces. My left bar is pretty full of spaces and subspaces. I do not show space or sub-space rooms in Home. When I click home, it will (at random) show me a different room than when I last clicked Home. App not restarted or anything, this is within a singular session.

This has resulted in me sending messages in the wrong room recently, because element decides to show me a different one and I didn't catch it before hitting return.

Outcome

What did you expect?

I expect Element Web to have a stable idea of the last room it showed me in the Home category.

What happened instead?

It changes the room it shows me, sometimes.

@Aranjedeath are you by chance clicking on the numeric badge atop the Home space button? As that jumps to you an unread room which may feel at random.

I can't say for sure. I have no numerics on my Home currently but I do have the unread dot. Clicking this tiny dot (repeatedly) appears to bring me through unread rooms. If the number functions similarly, that is probably what happened. Very surprising that they are not display-only indicators.

Very surprising that they are not display-only indicators.

A significant amount of users asked for them to be hotlinks to notifications as a quick flow.

Got it, I'll close the bug then. I'll just indicate as a protest note that this chosen interface is non-obvious and non-discoverable, and it would be great if this quick-scroll sort of use-case was supported in a more obvious way. Thanks.
