Kibana will support localization in v6.7. It would be nice if we could also support localization on the landing page.

We might consider using a query parameter to change the locale (ex. ?locale=zh-cn). The translations for the layer properties can be pulled from the manifest. When a translation for a property (layer name or field name for example) is not available in the chosen language, it would fall back to using the en translation.

We could also consider adding a dropdown box to the UI for selecting a locale.

EUI has i18n components that could be useful here.
