This is probably insane, but what about a page where you can draw a map of the town or surrounding area.

I could set up a basic canvas or svg drawing implementation and figure a way to save it.

Either roll my own (complicated but maybe educational) or find a decent (simple) library.

Could even have some predrawn elements to place on the map for those who don't want to draw.
