This is a online interactive version of the planisphere from HKNEAC. The production copy is here Live Demo on Github Page

Functionality implemented

  1. View the constellations in the night sky of a specific date and time of the year.
  2. Change between 88 IAU constellations, IAU constellations (simplified for urban night sky), and ancient Chinese constellations.
  3. Animation that rotate the planisphere at 3600x faster than real time (1 full rotation in 24s)
  4. Zoom into the planisphere for detailed view
  5. The site is only usable in landscape mode, so a fullscreen overlay to remind user to rotate the device when its in portrait mode
