Manufacturers have different policies for reverse distribution of drugs (i.e. drug returns).

Some give full credit even for opened bottles.

Others don't give ANY credit (i.e. Abbvie for Humira). They might just destroy it.

• In this case, would want to find a pharmacy buyer elsewhere in the world who would pay a much discounted rate

• Get paid a fee for each box ($10/box) that they send them
• Take 7% of return check from manufacturers, the rest goes to pharmacies

Competitive advantage for reverse distributor - divert products that WON'T get credit to other routes - somewhat ensure that 100% of products they receive will have credit from manufacturer and increases satisfaction of pharmacies so they aren't wasting drugs and potentially making a bit more money than before.

Manufacturer-level policy - not related to contracts or GPOs or PSAOs.
