I raised the issue with F-Droid already in June, but the reply was "No one had time to take a look at this."

Forum "issues" are easily lost as you've seen already. https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/issues is the right place

Just had a look at this, I see two problems:

1. the v4.12.0 seems not to be tagged either on sourceforge nor here, so it's problematic to know what code should be build
2. there is no real proof that the repo was moved from sourceforge to here

1. at least v. 4.10.0.1 in Releases is much more fresh then what's in F-Droid 2. easy-peasy. The latest commit at SF is done in 2018 by Claudio Matsuoka. The new repo is his. The old one is obviously abandoned. Seems enough for me. IMHO "proofs" aren't really required for F-Droid. Software isn't owned in FOSS. Anyway contact authors if in doubt.

2. yeah proofs are not needed but fdroid usually tries to stick to the original source and not an unofficial fork
