In the readme of Julius:

Beware: Augustus does not support the original Caesar 3 save files, while Julius does. So use Julius for a more vanilla experience with some visual improvements, or Augustus for a different gameplay experience.

This is not exactly true, Augustus does load vanilla Julius or C3 saves. However the correct information is any saves made with Augustus will not work outside Augustus. Such is said by the readme of Augustus.

While not a big error in understanding of how Augustus works, it might sublty deter players from not checking Augustus or even trying it with vanilla saves.

Brilliant work on Julius btw, Cheers!

A good fix for this would be, "for save compatibility with Augustus in relation to the base vanilla game or Julius: see here"

Thanks for letting us know, that sentence was indeed poorly phrased. I have update it to read:

Note: Julius save games are fully compatible with the original Caesar 3 save files and vice versa. Augustus can load original/Julius save games, but save games made with Augustus cannot be loaded in Julius or original Caesar 3.
