Long tail of things needed here, including:

  • Some ability to map/unmap windows
  • Being able to detect if the managed instance window is currently active
  • Being able to set a window as active

Additionally, we may be reliant on uneven protocol support among the different compositors. We may need to do some additional forking based on what features are available.
