Sound muted on double stop with volume button AND force gapless

This is a strange, but common behavior for my setting:

• Arch Linux
• Pipewire 0.3.30

When pausing or switching output streams (e.g. connecting a bluetooth audio device) guayadeque seems to loose it's output connection. It continues to play, but there is nothing to hear.

Any ideas how to track this down?

Although the log messages appear on a fresh start, too. Also it complains about:

what is your output device ? alsa ?

In guayadeque it is set to alsa and as of today it looses it output occasionally. I will try the other outputs as well (there is automatic, gconf defined, alsa, pulseaudio, oss and other)

So ... by accident I discovered that sound indeed is playing. But it is muted and if I adjust sound using the volume button or slider, it plays just fine.

Some observations:

• It DOES NOT happen if I disable the volume button
• It DOES NOT happen with volume button and without 'force gapless'
• it consistently DOES happen with volume button and force gapless
