I am a full-stack software engineer, and certified Scrum Master, from Newcastle upon Tyne who specialises in dotnet development. Outside of the office, I am passionate about volunteering, hiking, building Lego, board gaming and cinema.

Professional Experience

Tracerco, Software Engineer

July 2019 - Present | Billingham, Teesside

At Tracerco I work on and lead multiple full-stack projects covering desktop, mobile and web applications. We're a dotnet-based company, using Azure, ASP.net, Entity Framework, WPF, Angular and Tailwind.

Here I have acted as the lead developer on DoseVision2, a Software as a Service (SAAS) product, which I saw through from conception to completion. Our service allows organisations to monitor and manage the radiation exposure of it's employees from anywhere in the world via sophisticated Personal Electronic Dosimeters (PEDs) which sync up to a cloud web portal through desktop and mobile applications. My roles and responsibilities on this product included:

  • Coordinating a Scrum team of both software engineers and UX developers
  • Collaborating with product stakeholders, firmware and hardware teams
  • and implementing core functionality, such as interfacing with PEDs and synchronising data to and from our API.

Another significant contribution to the business I've made is to design and implement a prototype for the interactive reports used for Tracerco's Insights Platform. My prototype took legacy report data on customer's distillation towers and used D3.js to create an interactable CAD model embedded within a web portal. Following my contributions, the Insights Platform has gone on to become one of Tracerco's most successful products and has received significant recognition by winning the "Teesside Innovation Award" in July 2023.

Programming in C#, Exam 70-483

February 2020 | Microsoft Certification

Education

First Class BSC (HONS), Computer Science with Games Development

September 2016 - July 2019 | Northumbria University

As part of my degree, I worked on many projects for both Games and Animation modules. These projects utilised numerous technologies such as Unity, Unreal Engine, C++, C# and THREE.JS.

Whilst at University, I also designed and implemented CPU Online, a web-based CPU simulator. Written in Unity and C#, CPU Online was designed to educate students on the fundamentals of computer science. This work was carried out as part of my undergraduate dissertation.

In addition to my degree, I also hold three A-Levels in Mathematics, Computing and Design & Technology.

Volunteering

Northumbria Walking Group, Digital Secretary

March 2023 - Present | volunteer role

Elected to work alongside other committee members, together we run a self-organised Ramblers Charity group of 100+ members. As part of my volunteering role, I am responsible for both organising and leading walks. On top of this, I also manage our group's website, Meetup account and user's memberships.

Brick Alley, Group Member

June 2022 - Present | volunteer role

Brick Alley is one of the few RLUGs (Recognised Lego User Groups) in the UK, as part of the group I build and display large-scale Lego models which are showcased in museums and fan conventions all over the country. This is to raise money for our selected children's charities: Fairy Bricks & Holy Rood House.

In addition to the charity work I do through Brick Alley, in 2023 I also personally raised £820 to purchase Lego for children in hospital care via a sponsored trek across a portion of Hadrian's Wall.
