Releases: agrastiOs/Ultimate-TF2-Visual-Fix-Pack
1.0
As I am writing this, the last pre-release got MORE THAN 23,000 downloads! WOW!
This is the first full version of the pack. Grabbing TF2UltimateVisualFix.vpk to get the entire package is recommended. Enjoy!
Change notes:
Fixes for regressions that were caused by the pack itself
- Fixed Heavy Bots with the Gate Bot hat having their entire head glowing.
- Fixed the Festive Axtinguiser's ribbon not losing the crit/minicrit glow.
Fixes for TF2 content
- Added missing/fixed broken phong and rim light parameters, lightwarp texture to Scout and Spy Bots' heads.
- Applied consistent lightwarp and added on-fire visual effect support for the Short Circuit.
- Applied gold cubemap reflection and robot lightwarp to Botkiller Mk.I and Mk.II heads.
- Applied missing phong shading parameters to the All Hallows' Hatte's lights.
- Applied phong shading and rim lighting parameters and corrected lightwarps for the Gate Bot hat.
- Applied phong shading and rim lighting parameters and missing proxies to Sticky Jumper stickies.
- Applied proper rim lighting parameters to the Horseless Headless Horsemann's Headtaker.
- Applied rim lighting parameters to the Sharpened Volcano Fragment.
- Applied rim lighting parameters to the Sun-on-a-Stick.
- Applied the robot lightwarp and removed cubemap reflections from all Mann-Up exclusive cosmetics for consistency.
- Corrected the Horseless Headless Horsemann's rim light "pulse" effect so that it isn't out of sync with the self-illumination effect.
- Corrected the phong shading parameters of the Medic Mech-Bag to be as close as possible to the backpack of the Medic Bot.
- Fixed Control Point self-illumination issues, such as the Control Point glowing entirely on capture.
- Fixed MONOCULUS's eye "glass" not rendering properly, also added cubemap reflections to the "glass" for consistency.
- Fixed Mannpower Crit powerup pick-up to use the proper blue team texture - not greenish anymore.
- Fixed Sentry Buster's phong shading to be applied on the entire model, not just the illuminated parts.
- Fixed pulsating rim lighting and made phong shading parameters consistent between stages of Merasmus's bombs.
- Fixed the Fortified Compound not using its normal map.
- Fixed the Iron Bomber not turning yellow when doused in Jarate.
- Fixed the Pyrovision Goggles showing very faint missing textures if playing with HDR off.
- Fixed the on-fire visual effect not animating on the Gunslinger.
- Made the Sapper's glass consistent with the Mad Milk's, Jarate's, and Syringe Gun's glass.
- Removed cubemap reflections for consistency and added missing proxies to the Quickiebomb Launcher's stickybombs.
- Restored lightwarp and made the gold part less blinding of the Weather Master.
- Restored unused bumpmap on the Proof of Purchase.
- Spectral Merasmus now has consistent phong and rim-lighting parameters with non-Spectral Merasmus, he is also now transparent, now that the transparency rendering order has been mostly fixed by Valve.
- The Payload cart that is used in Hoodoo now has phong shading, rim lighting, and the player lightwarp, which makes it look better and consistent with the regular Payload cart.
- The Quadwrangler, Albrero, and Seeing Double now use the proper player lightwarp instead of the sharp weapon one.
- The Rainblower now uses cubemap reflections.
- The icon of the Chargin' Targe is now consistent with what the model looks like. The old icon was blue-striped and darker, which came from an old team-colored version of the model before it was made orange and lighter.
- The icon of the Scottish Resistance is now consistent with the fixed materials, originally it had soft lightning and was bland/darker.
- The 2024 Summer Update fixed the Tiny Timber's material to support painting. However, it also seemingly inadvertently modified phong parameters so that the wood now looks incredibly shiny. This has been rectified.
- Various misc. cleanup and DirectX 8 fixes to some materials.
Updates to existing fixes
- Made a much more visible and better community sparkle spread fix, the previous one had much lower visibility due to the lock being fixed, but now the lock fix is compensated for.
- Switched over the Buff Banner backpack's, B.A.S.E Jumper's, and the Cozy Camper's lightwarp textures to the softened version. This was done so that the lightwarp fits better with the cloth-based texture of these weapons while still sticking out compared to other cosmetics.
- The Gunboats no longer use $detail to look bright like the backpack icon, it now has a new texture that's a brighter version of the original texture.
- The minigun casing effect now is brighter based on feedback that it was too dark previously. It is now also re-rendered with the cubemap reflection disabled to fit more in all environments.
- Touched up the Dragon's Fury's projectile effect - the look of it is now generally better and more accurate.
- Turned off collision checks for the smoke of explosions to improve performance.
Installation instructions
Install easily by dragging the TF2UltimateVisualFix.vpk file (or its variants) to the tf\custom folder in the game's directory you drag your mods to (e. g. mastercomfig). It works on most community servers.
If you receive crashes while playing in servers that have sv_pure 1/2 and block this mod, download the version without model fixes (only Sentry Buster uber fix intact) and you shall crash no more.
Make sure to report any bugs, oversights, make suggestions in the Issues tab.
Release Candidate 3
The last release, at the time of me writing this, hit more than 8000 whopping downloads! Thanks!
Change notes:
Fixes for regressions that were caused by the pack itself
- Fixed the Thermal Thruster's large icon having white outlines.
- Removed the Sniper Rifle scope fix for now as it caused problems with some decorated weapons. The fix might be coming out for the full release.
Fixes for TF2 content
- Actually added missing killstreak sheen effect for the Crossing Guard.
- Added new icons for weapons that received major visual changes in their model, material, or texture; Direct Hit, Eviction Notice, Liberty Launcher, Tomislav, Family Business.
- All the Voodoo Cursed Souls now have consistent Phong and rimlight parameters with the regular class .vmt's. (Thanks Whurr!)
- Fixed Monoculus losing its rimlight and Phong while Enraged (angry). (Thanks Whurr!)
- Fixed broken $sine proxy, which was intended to give a glowing on and off effect to the Crone Dome. Was broken together with the self-illumination and has been completely removed from the material files since the January 7, 2016 Patch. (Thanks Whurr!)
- Made the fire vacuum effect of the Manmelter smaller and less annoying, improved vacuum's appearance itself slightly.
- More optimized and slightly better disintegration death particles that use way fewer particles compared to the default.
- Unusual sprite transparency fix: Fixed various sprites appearing slightly transparent if they are too close to the player or walls and etc., this was caused by them having "depth blending" on by default, which "softens" them when they are too close to walls, models and such.
Changes can be noticed best with the third-person view, standing close to a wall or while the effect passes over the player with an orbiting unusual on like Circling TF Logo, Aces High, Orbiting Planets, Dead Presidents, and the likes, they will now no longer be slightly transparent. - Updated Rainblower taunt particles to point in the correct direction. (Thanks FlaminSarge!)
Installation instructions
Install easily by dragging the two files to the tf\custom folder in the game's directory you drag your mods to (e. g. mastercomfig). It will be used on most community servers - Casual and Faceit 12v12 (for the time being) mostly do not work. THG servers have the pack whitelisted!
You have to download both the .vpk ending in _000, and in _dir.
If you still have the Creators.TF Community Launcher, you can very easily install the pack. Updating feature is also included.
If you receive crashes while playing in servers that have sv_pure 1/2 and block this mod, download the version without model fixes (only Sentry Buster uber fix intact) and you shall crash no more.
Make sure to report any bugs, oversights, make suggestions in the Issues tab.
Full change notes and screenshots for the entirety of UVF are coming very soon (ETA: Q2 of 2022), for now, you can take a look at the highlights in the readme to know what the pack is changing.
If you want to be sure where to look to give feedback: look at most weapons, Australiums, and skins, take a look at the cosmetics you've been hearing having bugs. Look at the muzzleflashes, Pyro weapons' particles.
Release Candidate 2
At the time of this post, the previous release was ~800 downloads away from surpassing the total download amount of all the other releases, combined. 👏👏👏
Change notes:
Fixes for regressions that were caused by the pack itself
- Fixed BLU Festive Backburner's nose having RED shine tint.
- Fixed Dragon's Fury projectile effect missing a detail due to the recent summer update changing the file path of the "ring" sprite used in the effect.
- Fixed the Lollichop having the critical hit boost effect stay forever.
Fixes for TF2 content
- Added a trick to make the fixed Community Sparkle effect work in-game without changing item_fx.pcf - which means that the fix is no more for Valve to implement only, and now can be experienced in this release.
To maximize many other existing mods' compatibility with this pack, item_fx.pcf modifications are not included, normally this particle system is in item_fx.pcf - Added missing killstreak sheen effect for the Crossing Guard.
- Cleaned up the Festive Sandvich's materials.
- Gave Point & Shoot, Old Guadalajara, and Large Luchadore the correct player light warp, previously they had the weapon light warp.
- Improved Community Sparkle fix to fully fix the particles going all over while moving around.
- Improved the Manmelter's projectile trail, improved muzzle flash, added a timer muzzle glow to indicate weapon is ready to fire, and improved idle glow & sparks to have a better indication of reloading being finished.
- Improved the Phlogistinator's fire visibility and look.
- Lowered Professor Speks, Merc's Pride Scarf, and Minigun's rim light, was previously too high.
- Made the Festive cables consistent with the Festivized cables.
- Made the minigun casings slightly bigger. They were too tiny before and now are more accurate to the unused casing model's scale.

Release Candidate 1
Hey there, firstly I'd like to thank you all for a whopping 7500 total downloads!
Secondly, this release follows a new release versioning scheme for a few reasons: a release was decided to be shipped now instead of waiting for the 1.0 full release as quite some time has passed since the last release, and quite a few changes are piling up for the next releases. Moreover, calling it 1.0 the 'Final Release' wasn't entirely veracious, as we might decide to ship part 2 into the same repo or add some fix patches on the way. The promotional content is still coming!
Thirdly, a new changelog format is in effect, starting now.
