This may be a long-shot @pironic but - purely HYPOTHETICALLY speaking - how easy would it be to install/establish/run the contest using WordPress? Are you familiar with WP?
I am not really familiar myself. But I know a growing number of sites are built with it. Would it present any advantages to us in line of page design / layout / functionality?

Although wordpress is more of a blog format, it doesn't have the features we were looking for around voting... if we utilize wordpress, we'd be putting ourselves inside a box that would limit us to v2.0.
I've used wordpress for quite a few years, and even used it as a content management system for clients. http://karaprogram.ca/ is built completely on wordpress but doesn't follow a blog format. So its a great CMS tool, but not really what we're looking for :)
