MIT license is the "most" open-source license available, as it permits anyone to use the code as they please without any restrictions.

Thanks for the PR. I've also thought of using the MIT license initially, but then I also wondered whether a copyleft license (such as the GNU GPL) might be a better choice 🤔. I'll discuss this issue with the University leadership as well, to see what their opinion is.

If a copyleft license is desired, then I suggest LGPL 2.1 instead of GPL.
