Code of Conduct

Statement on Diversity and Inclusivity

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment for all contributors to the datastructpy Project. Our goal is to ensure a collaborative space where everyone feels valued regardless of their background, identity, or experience level. Discrimination or harassment based on personal characteristics such as gender, race, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, or any other identity will not be tolerated.

Expected Behavior

To maintain a positive and professional atmosphere, we expect all participants to:

  • Use inclusive and respectful language.
  • Value diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Offer and accept constructive feedback graciously.
  • Collaborate with others to achieve the best outcomes for the project.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and respect in all communications and interactions.

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered unacceptable and will not be tolerated:

  • Discriminatory comments or actions that exclude individuals based on personal characteristics.
  • Harassment, including but not limited to unwelcome attention, stalking, or intimidation.
  • Use of abusive, derogatory, or insulting language or imagery.
  • Disruption of discussions or contributions in any form.
  • Sharing private communications or content without explicit consent.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Participants who engage in unacceptable behavior may face the following consequences:

  • A verbal or written warning regarding their behavior.
  • Temporary or permanent removal from the project and associated communication channels.
  • Reporting of the behavior to appropriate authorities, depending on the severity of the incident.

Procedure for Reporting and Dealing with Unacceptable Behavior

If you witness or experience behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it as follows:

  1. Contact any member of the project team directly via email or through the project's communication platform.
  2. Alternatively, report the incident to javimtz@student.ubc.ca. All reports will be managed with utmost discretion and confidentiality.

When reporting an incident, please provide the following details:

  • Your name and contact information (optional, but providing them is encouraged).
  • A description of the incident, including time, location, and involved parties.
  • Any additional context or evidence to help us understand the situation.

The project team will review all reports promptly and determine the appropriate course of action. The reporter will be informed of the resolution process to the extent possible while maintaining confidentiality.
