Serum is an open-source, cross-platform pinball colorization format. The Windows version also provides an editor, which consists out of:
- ColorizingDMD -> the editor to colorize frames
- SortingCDump -> used to organize frames
The Wiki primarily focuses on the Serum colorizing editor, which was introduced by David "Zedrummer" Lafarge. David created the open-source format and editor after learning that his ZeDMD project would not receive PAC support, a decision that ultimately led to the creation of Serum.
Subsequently, Markus "mk47" Kalkbrenner took over the ZeDMD project. Since then, Markus has played a pivotal role in advancing the ZeDMD project and significantly contributing to the broader Serum/ZeDMD ecosystem, enhancing its development and functionality.
- Highly advanced editor with many tools
- Support for multiple/extra resolutions
- RGB565 format resulting in a maximum of 65,536 colors per frame
- Backgrounds, Sprites, Dynamic Shadows, Video/Image importing, Color Rotations and more
