EDTA

EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) stock solution 0.5M pH8

For 100 mL 0.5M EDTA:

• add 14.62 g EDTA (acid, MW = 292.25 g/mol) to a clean beaker
• add about 80 mL ddH2O
• add NaOH pellets slowly until the EDTA starts to dissolve (1-1.8 g)
• add liquid 10 M NaOH until pH is 8 (at higher pH EDTA is not very soluble.)
• add water to 100 mL

Autoclave to sterilize. The solution is stable for years at room temperature. This solution is used for making TE.
