Can I save the species summary?

The species side panel is a really useful summary. Can I save it in some form?

If you export an eBird record file, this is essentially the summary

In this file species are not summarised in a single line as in the side panel, many species have multiple entries - and I've not figured out what these separate entries represent.

Also, exporting an eBird record file overwrites the "Export results to CSV" file as it has the same name (and overwrites without warning). This doesn't seem a good idea.

Hi @ceperman, you wanted to know if you could export the information held in the summary in some form. This is a way to do that, If you want to know what the other entries represent, check out "What is an eBird record" in the help menu.

As for overwriting an exported csv, you are right. The whole export section could do with an refactor.

Actually I said I wanted to save the summary that the side panel shows, the eBird summary is different. Perhaps a misunderstanding.

I did write some Python code to summarise the "Export results to CSV" file, by species sorted by max confidence value. It's not very sophisticated but does the job I wanted. I'm happy to share it if anyone's interested.
