Streaming audio has a chance of disappearing #2552
Comments
Same issue. For me there is no sound if I switch from running app such as Witcher3 back to Moonlight UI (ShieldTV) and then resume session with the game. Many times there is no sound and I need to close the game and start it again to have sound. Wasn't a problem before. Can't remember but I am experiencing it for last few months at least. Using nightly version. |
@tvoracek same here. This has been bothering me a lot since using Shield controller, it is very easily to accidentally push Home button next to the right stick, I lose audio when resuming session. I had to quit the session and consequently, quit steam and the running game, and try a new session for the audio to work. |
Hmm. I guess it was fixed some time ago as I no longer see this issue with latest nightly versions. |
It seems this issue hasn't had any activity in the past 90 days. If it's still something you'd like addressed, please let us know by leaving a comment. Otherwise, to help keep our backlog tidy, we'll be closing this issue in 10 days. Thanks! |
This issue was closed because it has been stalled for 10 days with no activity. |
I never used Virtual Audio Cable, I wonder if it will help in this case? But, asking Moonlight to keep playing audio on Host PC I believe will prevent this from happening. The issue becomes then how to mute when client gets connected and unmute when disconnected (not session ending, the DO command run, UNDO doesn't until session ends, not client disconnected). I use SetVol app for this. |
Is there an existing issue for this?
Is your issue described in the documentation?
Is your issue present in the nightly release?
Describe the Bug
When switching from one audio-producing application to another (e.g., pausing current audio and then switching to another program, such as pausing a video in the browser and switching to a music application to play music), there is a chance that the streamed audio disappears. I have already reset the Windows audio system and Sunshine's audio capture device to their defaults, and manually reinstalled the audio driver (Steam Virtual Audio), but the issue persists. When this problem occurs, I have to disconnect and reconnect Moonlight, and then the audio returns to normal. This issue occurs on both the Android and PC ends, and I have ruled out it being a problem with Moonlight. However, even after these steps, the problem persists, and I am forced to repeatedly disconnect and reconnect to resolve it.
