Troubleshooting guide

If you are not a soldering pro, please read this before continuing :)

The screens are white

That's a good sign. This means your displays are being initialized and are working but the FreeDeck could not read the config file. Make sure that:

  • the config is on your SD-Card
  • your SD-Card is in your FreeDeck
  • the SD-Card is formatted as Fat32-MBR.

Sometimes it is also necessary to adjust the IMG_CACHE_SIZE in the settings.h.

The screens show a torn image of what they are supposed to show

That means everything is probably working fine and you just need to adjust the IMG_CACHE_SIZE in the settings.h

If this does not help make sure that no pins of the multiplexers and the SPI-SD card reader are touching the PCB of the display/Arduino. You can use a piece of paper to check how much room you have between the components and potentially discover a short.

My Arduino is getting hot

This can sign that you have a short somewhere on your board, or that the screens are not compatible with the default PCB.
