notifications should be grouped under a single notification instead of having separate notifications for each sender
Why do you want this feature?
it's not like anyone uses (or should be using) SMS anymore. most SMSes are promotional these days, and should not take up a full "page" (screen?)'s worth of notifications to scroll through. unfortunately, disabling notifications altogether is also rather inconvenient, because certain services still insist on using them in 2025 (despite it being extremely insecure and untrustworthy).
being able to leave all SMSes on unread and having them grouped under a single notification would be great.

I'm not convinced this is good idea (even as an option). A lot of people still use SMS/MMS and you can block unwanted messages by numbers or keywords or just turn off notifications for specific senders.
well, even whatsapp groups notifications. (well, it seems to have some sort of notification group, that can be expanded into multiple notifications, so it's like having all notifications under the same notification without actually having them under the same notification?)
anyway this is something the google messages app also did, it would group them when you had a bunch of different senders. but alas, the google messages app now requires a login to use. so we had to find an alternative.
... it's a shame the alternative is unwilling to implement features we relied on. sucks that we're forced to use this. :/
