A gifted node which begins incorrect (such as a given DRT with an alien default named node) has a gifted icon, and thus is ignored by the dashboard. In Dragoon, such nodes start with the red X (there's no gift icon) and the student can get "star" (full green) or a green or a yellow as normal after that. In TopoMath the student is allowed to make edit the values but the icon doesn't change, only the color.
One suggested fix: when the gifted node is closed, change its icon from gift to the standard icon for its current state.
Another possible fix: Gifted nodes that start out incorrect should have the x instead of the gift icon, and never have the gift icon after that. Kurt doesn't like this one.
