In this workshop, we discussed how to create and nurture a healthy relationship with your advisor. The event started with a presentation by Bryan Hanson, the graduate ombudsperson, and then a QA session with a panel of professors Bowman, Butt, North, and Shaffer, who as great role-model advisors shared with us, some tips on how to navigate this long-term relationship. The panel also included students: Cory Ilo, Kylie Davidson, and Lindah Kotut who have developed healthy relationships with their advisors and shared their experience with us.

Dr. Patty Raun from the Theater department will be guiding us through activities designed to help us break out of our shells and get to know each other better. Dr. Raun also helps run the Communicating Science course, so she will be adapting activities from her class for our purposes in this event.
